AprenderPrivacy Policy
In short: Aprender doesn't collect, store or share any personal data. There's no account, and the app doesn't connect to the internet. Your progress stays on your device.
This policy covers the Aprender app for iPhone and this website. "I" and "me" refer to Kristian Mansfield, the developer of Aprender.
What the app stores
To track your learning, Aprender saves the following in a database inside the app, on your device only:
- the language you chose to study
- your recent answers for each word, and whether it's on your known list
- a record of each study session and the answers you gave in it
This information never leaves your device through Aprender. I can't see it, and it isn't sent to me or to anyone else.
What the app doesn't do
- It doesn't ask you to create an account or sign in.
- It doesn't make network requests. All words, translations and notes are built into the app.
- It doesn't use analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and it contains no third-party code that collects data.
- It doesn't ask for access to your contacts, location, photos, camera or microphone.
Backups
Like other app data, your Aprender progress is included in your device's normal backups, such as iCloud Backup or a backup to your computer. Those backups are handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy and your own settings. I have no access to them.
Information Apple may share with me
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may send me anonymous crash reports and usage statistics, such as how many people have installed the app. This information doesn't identify you, and I use it only to fix problems and improve the app. You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
Apple also handles your App Store purchase and download under its own privacy policy.
Deleting your data
To clear your progress for a language, open Settings in the app and reset progress. To remove everything, delete the app. This deletes all of its data from your device.
Children
Aprender doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
This website
This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. It doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking. GitHub may log visitors' IP addresses for security, as described in GitHub's Privacy Statement.
Changes to this policy
If the way Aprender handles data changes, for example if a future version adds features that need data, I'll update this page and the date above before that version is released.
